After a rather chaotic season at the 2022 Australian Open, Novak Djokovic is back in Australia for the 2023 campaign. Novak Djokovic was deported from Australia ahead of the last season. Djokovic’s intolerant stance on vaccine at a time when the world was reeling in the aftermath of the pandemic met with strict action and widespread ire. However, being a nine-time champion of the title, Djokovic subsequently earned his entry back in the Grand Slam competition. Consequently, the ace is back in the court ahead of the 2023 season starter. Rafael Nadal, in turn, has termed Djokovic’s return being “good for tennis”.
Talking about the presence of Djokovic in Australia after all that transpired last year, Nadal seemed optimistic. “Djokovic being here is good for tennis and for the fans. It’s always a victory to see the best on the court,” Nadal said about the event. Moreover, Nadal explained his course of action in ATP for the upcoming year. Nadal enjoyed a blazing time in the first half of 2022, winning the Australian and French Open.

However, injuries and pain marred the latter half of his time on the court in 2022. The Grand Slam champion had to withdraw from the Wimbledon semi-final, suffering an abdominal injury. Now at the helm of the Australian Open 2023, Nadal is motivated to regain his form and eventually another Grand Slam title in January 2023.
“My main goal now is to regain positive feelings on the court and to be competitive, and I hope to do that. I’m ready to do it, but we’ll see,” Nadal said. “Right now I’m just focused on having a competitive level.. on playing at the highest level possible and being competitive and fighting for everything,” he concluded.
