Florida drivers are paying prices they’ve never seen before at the gas pumps.The average cost for a gallon of unleaded gas in our state stayed at a record $4.49 overnight. It’s 29 cents more than this time last week.AAA says that $4.49 a gallon beats the old record from last week. On Friday morning, the average prices was $4.46.One year ago, gas only cost $2.89 a gallon. So why are they so high now? AAA says oil prices are not at record highs, but are almost 70-percent more than last year and fuel supplies were already tight heading into the start of the year, and it’s only gotten worse, with the war in Ukraine. We also have the summer travel season starting up soon. So demand will stay strong for a while.
